Assorted Photo Props
A Photo Background (optional - but great if indoors)
Photo props like silly glasses, mustaches, feathers, oversized bow ties, etc.

Activity Setup:

Before the carnival, set up your photo background and have a small table or a basket for the photo props.

You can make this carnival Photo Booth free and let people help themselves, but this is a fabulous booth to charge a small fee (just one ticket, 50 cents per person, for example).

Additional Hints & Tips:

Remember, these days, almost everyone has a camera on their phone. So, providing a unique spot to encourage fun photos with photo props is a great idea.

You can make it free or charge a ticket for each person to participate. If you charge a minimal fee for this booth, have your volunteer take a few photos of people posing for the pictures with their cameras—no printing required!!

Update for 2025 - typically, this booth is at no cost for carnival goers - but it is a nice touch to have a volunteer or two who will take the photo of the group using someone's phone.

Should You Pay a Professional for This Booth?

Some companies rent photo booths with props or even hire photographers to take photos printed on the spot, which is a novelty today.

But in our experience, this is one of those "extras" that can easily be done with a little creativity and for a reasonable cost compared to the professionals! So, if your carnival or fun fair budget is tight, this booth can quickly be done with creative volunteers and a few purchased supplies!

A few years ago, our school wanted to try the photo booth. It cost several hundred dollars and lost money - nobody wanted to pay a handful of tickets when their phones had a free camera!
