SCHOOL TRADING POST OR SCHOOL STORE - SETUP & DIRECTIONSThe short video / gif below shows toys and prizes at a school store carnival activity booth. Supplies for the School Store Fundraising Booth: Long Table(s) for Displaying Items for Sale Booth Planning:Generally it is a great idea to have one (or two volunteers who work as a team) to oversee this one booth because this carnival activity takes quite a bit of planning and is akin to running a small business for a day. The team chooses small toys, novelties and candy that they will sell for a profit to kids. (It is a great idea to have input from from "potential customers" - a few different aged children (boys and girls) to see what items they think are cool and they would love to purchase at the carnival.) Just like any "store" the volunteers need to plan how they will display their items so the kids can see them and will want to make purchases. As shown above, it is fun to have a "Novelties Board" so your young customers can see all the fun toys for sale and how many tickets it costs to purchase each one. We have seen this booth setup where children can reach the items for sale and others where the volunteers must Booth Setup:Have prices (amount of tickets) clearly marked on each novelty, toy or candy item. Volunteers should know how every toy and or novelty operates, works, rolls, lights, etc. to show your customers how cool the items are! Record a list of all items sold so you’ll know what to stock next year – what was popular and what wasn’t. How to Run the School Store Booth:Don’t miss out on this fantastic fundraising carnival booth! The School Store is one of the best money makers and most popular booths at school carnivals - besides of course, the silent auction for adults! This booth is basically a “dollar store” with the school making the profit! The one big difference is that you sell items for tickets – have a variety of items at prices of 1 ticket up to 8 tickets. The best sellers seem to be the types of items your kids love at the dollar store – fun small toys and unique candies. For example, one large elementary school in Texas purchases oodles of invisible ink – they sell out every year and make $2000 just on that one item! |
